Monica Wills House signage

St Monica Trust

This project builds on the signage we’ve produced for all the other St Monica Trust retirement villages. Each signage project is site specific and in each case we’ve drawn on the surrounding area for our design inspiration.

For the Monica Wills House signage, the colours and forms found in Bedminster have been our inspiration. Back in the Victorian era this was an industrial area full of bonded warehouses and tobacco factories. The russet reds and browns of the brick buildings inspired our colour set for the Monica Wills project; meanwhile the trade gothic font painted on the buildings helped us develop our typography. With these different elements in mind we designed bespoke wayfinding signage for the interior and exterior of the urban retirement village.

Each of the five floors has a different colour scheme, which is also seen on the exterior signs. We’ve had some great feedback from the St Monica Trust since the signs went up, and residents and visitors seem to be finding their way around with great success.
